26 Jul Petrified Wood & Crystal Sphere: The Perfection in the Imperfection
Finding perfection in what is real.
In western culture we constantly strive for perfection. When things are constantly refined and reworked they lose their individuality, but is that really perfect?
Is there really such a thing as a perfect piece of art that everyone considers beautiful?
I have found that when striving for absolute beauty you lose connection with what makes art real. Because of this I am a firm believer in the Japanese philosophy wabi-sabi.
Wabi-sabi is about acceptance and gratitude for what is raw, imperfect and natural, a great example of this is petrified wood. While no two pieces of petrified wood look the same, it is their differences and their individuality that makes them beautiful.
Nature is the Best Artist.
Nature Gallery has been selling minerals, fossils, and jewelry from all around the world since 1987. As a curator of the gallery, I am proud to say that everything I select I consider a natural work of art.
The beauty of each piece doesn’t speak to each person. However, when you find the piece whose beauty speaks to you it will make your heart sing.
